Finding the right Hamsterley

When the mountain biking mags recommend trails to ride they are normally in California, France or, at a push, Wales. That's why it was nice to read of one in my neighbouring county - County Durham - at Hamsterley Forest. Perfect. My girlfriend drives to Durham every morning. I can cadge a lift, drop her at school and drive on to Hamsterley for a day's trailing.

When I checked my local map I noticed Hamsterley was even closer than I expected. It wasn't on my local 1:25,000 but was just on the edge of the local 1:50,000 scale. So, I bought the next map to the I had. What troubled me was that I could find Hamsterley, but not Hamsterley Forest. No matter how hard I looked it just wasn't there.

After a while it dawned on me - maybe there are two Hamsterleys in County Durham. Hard is it to believe - it's true. I was looking at the wrong Hamsterley all along. The "real" one is twice as far away and involved buying yet another map. Be warned! If you plan on going to the trail it's near this Hamsterley and NOT this one!!

Could you tell me which of the Hamsterleys has a very old and rundown Baptist Church building in it. I am trying to learn as much about that church as possible for a visit in February. I would greatly appreciate your help.
