A milestone was reached tonight with the parquet flooring. In that applied the first coat of Linseed oil.
It's funny. Every time I've sanded a floor and then applied to the first coat of finish I've found myself preferring the bare wood. Is it just me? But then, when it's all covered, I find it hard to imagine it any other way. Odd.
At this point I find myself being about 85% happy with it. A true DIYer is never truly happy. Is he?!
The finish is a little lack-lustre so far and there are still a few scratches from the edge sander; despite hours spent sanding each one with the pad sander! It needs a good shiney finish to it. Although, overall, it looks amazing and I am really happy with it. Lessons have been learnt though and when/if we use the other blocks I'll feel a lot more confident about it.
There's more to do on the floor and I'll report on how it ends up looking.>
