Hectic Times

Hi all. Sorry about the silent spell. It's been hectic at Brookside (the somewhat unfortunate name of our house).

It seems like every spare moment I've had has been spent working on the house. Mainly on the kitchen. Last time I mentioned it we'd just laid the parquet. Well, it's almost finished now. One of the dressers is in, the sink unit and sink are fitted, worktops are in and oiled. There's still a few jobs to do but I've done enough to keep Karen off my back for a while. I've updated the Kitchen Project photo album with some shots of the work we've been doing. Update starts here.

We've been doing some thinking and decided to take a well-earnt break. For the past year it's been flat out DIY. I need a break. I want to get back out on my bike and enjoy my spare time. Not that I don't enjoy the work on the house - I do - but I just want more QT with family and friends.

Not only do we need a break physically and mentally but also financially. It's about broken us. We need to conserve some resources before we do anymore big jobs. Especially as the next job is probably the bathroom and it's going to cost a small fortune. Have you seen the prices of baths and shower enclosures!? I reckon the bathroom will end up costing us close to £5k.

So, it might carry on being quiet round here for a while. Keep dropping in though. I'll make sure it's updated as much as can.
